Feeding the Planet Energy for Life
EXPO Milano 2015 the Universal Exposition to be held in Milano from 1 May 2015 until 31 October of the same year. The official theme around which revolve the event is Feeding the Planet, Energy for Life. In short, the exhibition will include the issues that have to do with nutrition in all its facets. There is already talk than 20 million visitors expected in Milano for the event. In addition, there will be over 130 nations represented, more than 60 pavilions are confirmed.
Feeding the Planet, Energy for Life is a crucial issue for all countries of the world and incorporating in itself a double valence: on one hand that of trying to ensure enough food for people living in conditions of malnutrition and, secondly, to be able to prevent new major social diseases of our times, obesity to cardiovascular disease, enhancing innovations and practices that enable healthier living.
Targets that stimulate the States international institutions, non-governmental organizations and private actors in favor of stimulating investment in agroalimentare and research for new solutions to achieve a sustainable human development.
Expo Milano 2015 has therefore the following specific objectives:
✓ Supporting sustainable development and environmental protection, in order to demonstrate the close link between the availability of sufficient healthy and good food for all peoples and the sustainable development.
✓ Focus on cooperation with regard to development, creating an opportunity to take stock of the system of economic and trade exchanges, focusing on critical issues and opportunities for economic integration of the countries.
✓ Promote informed choices for producers and consumers, creating a platform for dialogue for everyone, that rotates around the food industry, public and private institutions, associations, employers, consumers, the research community and culture, in order to raise awareness about their respective roles in an international perspective.
Expo 2015 intends to address the universal and complex subject of nutrition from an environmental point of view, historical, cultural, anthropological, medical, technical, scientific and economic.
The theme will be therefore declined throughout the the exposition site, by means of three main areas: WELFARE, FOOD AND HEALTH, through the following sub-themes:
• Science & Technology for the security and food quality.
• Science & Technology for the agriculture and biological diversity.
• Innovation of the food industry.
• Alimentary education.
• Feeding and lifestyles.
• Food and culture.
• Cooperation and Development in feeding.
Visitors will experience a unique journey that looks at the complex theme of nutrition. They will have the possibility to take a trip around the world, sampling the food and traditions of people from all over the globe. Expo Milano 2015 will be the first Exposition in history to be remembered not only for its products but also for its contribution towards education on food and the planet’s precious resources.
